Weekly Update... 4/19/2020
Our home has been in full quarantine since 3/22 officially now. Almost a month. We were kind of on a partial quarantine starting on 3/13 when our public schools started to close & we started to prepare to be at home for a while. But we still had to find a way to get our oldest home from school and then get back up there to move her out officially.
We worked on a home project and painted the water closet in the master bath to match the rest of our bathroom. We went from a "chocolate brown" in the entire bath to a more peaceful grey.
We also had haircuts this week. THAT was stressful. I believe that the shorter the hair the less forgiving it is. I do not think that using clippers is in my skill set. Will wanted to keep the "length" on the top. Pretty sure he's working on a "man bun" here. And yes, his hair is kind of a greenish - blue hue. Who knows what color it will be next week. I am seriously not sweating some of the small things; just as long as they don't get the hair color all over the house & clean up the mess their hair can be whatever color they would like.
I am pretty sure I am winning in the "not going anywhere" arena. I filled up my truck on 3/22 and here is what the mileage/fuel level says now. Nate has driven my truck a couple of times in between; diesels just need to be run periodically.

The new dog, Sig, is starting to believe that the Amazon boxes are all for him. They seem to always contain a good rope bone & sometimes retriever rolls. He goes through these rope bones about once a week though.
We have started to figure out the online grocery store ordering with pick up. The hardest part of this is planning ahead for me, but I am getting better at it. Who knows? We may not go back to conventional grocery shopping after this.
I am still seeing a lot of people NOT following the guidelines for social distancing in our area while I am out for my walks & runs. This week I actually watched a couple of teenage boys throw all of their baseball equipment OVER the fence of the LOCKED baseball fields. It makes me wonder how things are really going to go once we begin to try to lift these restrictions at the end of this coming week. Will people continue to push for more? I know that I am not alone in witnessing others pushing the limits with the social distancing recommendations.
The song Burn the Ships by King & Country has spoken to me over the past month. Take a listen when you get a chance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOVrOuKVBuY
How did we get here?
All castaway on a lonely shore
I can see in your eyes, dear
It's hard to take for a moment more
We've got to
All castaway on a lonely shore
I can see in your eyes, dear
It's hard to take for a moment more
We've got to
Burn the ships, cut the ties
Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide
Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide
Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Step into a new day
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back
Don't let it arrest you
This fear is fear of fallin' again
And if you need a refuge
I will be right here until the end
Oh, it's time to
This fear is fear of fallin' again
And if you need a refuge
I will be right here until the end
Oh, it's time to
Burn the ships, cut the ties
Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide
Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide
Dry your tears and wave goodbye
Step into a new day
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back
So long to shame, walk through the sorrow
Out of the fire into tomorrow
So flush the pills, face the fear
Feel the wave disappear
We're comin' clear, we're born again
Our hopeful lungs can breathe again
Oh, we can breathe again
Out of the fire into tomorrow
So flush the pills, face the fear
Feel the wave disappear
We're comin' clear, we're born again
Our hopeful lungs can breathe again
Oh, we can breathe again
Step into a new day
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And step into a new day
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And step into a new day
We can rise up from the dust and walk away
We can dance upon our heartache, yeah
So light a match, leave the past, burn the ships
And don't you look back

I wonder what "ships" might we be called to burn through this experience. I still really do feel that there IS a lesson here. We can either learn it or continue to stay the same. I am choosing to continue to try to be diligent, to NOT be afraid, to try not to worry and to have faith.
