Hiking adventures: The Lone Star Hiking Trail take 2 (5.2.20)
Most of the time the trail is pretty clearly marked and we are learning things about reading those markings. There was only one time on this hike where we were a bit unsure of ourselves and were without cell service. We have been using an app called All Trails to help, but if you do not have cell service that app cannot help you very much. We did make it out just fine though!
I was able to get some cool pics of Will along the trail. He will actually tolerate me taking a picture every now & then.
We noticed that there was a very different feel to this trail as compared to the one we hiked the week prior. Even though these trails were just across the street from each other the had a lot of different vegetation.
There were more and different kinds of flowers on this side of the trail.
And ferns! There was plenty of water on this hike too ~ we also saw a snake! I was too worried about getting the kids & dogs across without incident that I didn't get a picture!
The trees were still massive & with a mix of oak & pine when the last hike was mostly towering pines. There was also a pond with picnic tables and camping areas around it!
Our oldest is really considering hiking the entire trail! All 129 miles! It's good that we are getting the lay of the land before she goes though as I am sure we will need to meet her with supplies & possibly help with packing out trash. This is a rustic trail and there really aren't facilities for this on it.
Each time we come home from these hikes everyone gets a bath! Tics are very real in this area & we have found them. We do treat the dogs & we've found them early on the humans. If you hike be diligent.
